Coronation of King Charles III

In June 2022 Rugeley & District Lions organised together with St Augustine’s a Platinum Jubilee Concert, which became a huge success, so much so that we decided to organise a Concert for the Kings Coronation.

The Concert was again held at St Augustine’s on the 4th of May 2023.

Amazon came on board and donated fantastic raffle prizes, patriotic cupcakes and drinks.

Star performers were Becca Gee with Rich Parsons, Paul Roberts and Lichfield’s Town Crier Adrian Holmes. Rugeley Sundance School of Dance gave us a magnificent display and Cannock Lions Club let their own King Charles and Queen Camilla (Bev and Graham) make a guest appearance.

Our audience enjoying the concert

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the performances, flag waving and sing-along to the patriotic songs at the concert finale. Thank you to all who came to support the evening.

On the 5th May we organized a ‘Royal Bake Off’ where bakers brought in their Coronation Cakes to Victory Church, to be judged by Neil from Crumbs who chose 2 winners. The prizes were a £25 voucher and a trophy.

On the same day we also held the judging of a colouring competition using a line drawing of King Charles which was drawn by our President Debra Coburn. Cllr Olivia Lyons judged and awarded two children with their prize of a Paddington Bear. Well done to the winners and all those that took part and supported our Coronation Events!
