Each year we run a Toy Appeal, which was introduced by our President Debra Coburn. We collect donated new and unwrapped toys which are distributed to local children and families who are struggling financially.
This year we increased our collection points from 5 to 16 locations around Rugeley. This meant a lot more toys were donated and again we were blown away by the generosity of the people of Rugeley. We also received a cheque for £250.00 from Slitting Mill Village Hall and £425 from the parishioners of St Joseph’s Church for the Toy Appeal.
The Toy appeal finished on the 16th December and the toys were collected and then distributed to the Week of Wonder at Victory Church Rugeley, which was featured on the local BBC Midlands news and Rugeley and District Lions received a mention.
Toys were also distributed to local authorities, charities and other groups who could identify those families who would benefit from toy donations.
We would like to thank all those who had a collection box and acted as a drop off point and all those who donated toys. We could not achieve our Toy Appeal without you.
