Donations given by Rugeley and District Lions 2024

We have started 2024 with a bang and have already donated funding, food, Easter Eggs and books to schools.

We raise funds by working hard at putting on events like the historical re-enactments by Lesley Smith, Coronation concerts, organising raffles, Santa Sleigh Run, manning stalls at local events such the Charter fair and many other venues.

Help Mick to Carry on Standing 16th July 2024

Rugeley & District Lions Club presented Mick and Tracey Lloyd with a cheque for £1000,  at their monthly meeting . Mick and his wife Tracey have been raising funds for a new specialised wheelchair which ,is capable of allowing Mick to stand . Mick has been suffering from Multiple Sclerosis for a number of years .The couple have held a number of fundraisers in the community this year to raise funds for a new wheelchair and we are proud to contribute..


Easter Egg Donations

We have donated Easter Eggs to various organisations who help families in need. Pictured here is our President Debra Coburn with Jane Smith at Victory Church and Vysions Youth Service.


Easter Dinner Donations

On Tuesday 26th March, Rugeley & District Lions Club donated Easter Dinner Bags to Rugeley Foodbank providing families in need with a Roast Chicken dinner with Easter cakes. We also donated Easter Dinner bags to Sue Merriman from Brereton Millions for distribution to local families in need.


Eco Book Donations to local Schools and Libraries

Rugeley & District Lions Club presented two sets of Eco story books this week. A set of the popular books was presented to Henry Chadwick Primary school , Hill Ridware and the second set was presented to Rugeley Library . The Eco books are delightful story books dealing with Climate change , Rain Forest deforestation and Ocean pollution.

 

 


Funding Donations

On 12th March we donated £500 donation to support the FREE Counselling service in Rugeley.
The Changing Room Counselling scheme takes place on Tuesday and Friday mornings at the Church of the Holy Spirit , Etching Hill , Rugeley . Anyone in need of professional counselling can ring to make an appointment . Rugeley & District Lions Club enjoyed a visit the week before where we learnt all about the Changing Room work in the wonderful calming space at The Church of the Holy Spirit.


St Giles Hospice

On Monday 19th February members of Rugeley & District Lions Club donated £500 to Selina Hughes (Fundraiser)for the valuable work St. Giles Hospice does. Lions pictured from left to right are John Parkes , President Debra Coburn and Treasurer Peter Fielding on right of picture


Donations to Food Bank

On the 19th February, Rugeley & District Lions Club have made a substantial donation of jars of coffee , tinned fruit and jars of jam and Marmalade to the drop off point at Tesco for Rugeley Foodbank. We continue to donate food to this wonderful cause on a regular basis.
