What do Lions love to do?
Rugeley & District Lions Club was formed in 1992. We are a group of volunteers who love to help the community of Rugeley and surrounding villages. We raise money throughout the year by running various projects.
Our projects to date are:
- Annual Christmas Toy Collection for Rugeley.
- Santa Sleigh for Rugeley & District (in partnership with Rugeley Rotary Club).
- Helping at local events e.g., Rugeley Charter Fair and Brereton Carnival.
- Twice yearly historical lectures held at St Augustine’s Church, Rugeley, starring Lesley Smith, Curator at Tutbury Castle.
- Platinum Jubilee Concert and Coronation Concerts held at St Augustine’s Church.
- Fundraising cream teas for St Giles Hospice.
- Fundraising activities for Breast Cancer Charity ‘wear it pink’, held at the Victory Church, Rugeley.
- Sponsoring and helping at the Community Garden at St Augustine’s field, Rugeley.
- Annual Charter Dinner Dances.
- Providing furniture on request for the less fortunate, who are setting up home for the first time.
- Platinum Jubilee free tea party for 90 people.
- Supplying Eco reading books to local schools.
- Coronation Bake off and Coronation Colouring Competition.
- Duck Race.
