Rugeley & District Lions Club were delighted to welcome local hero James Lewis to our August meeting, where he shared the incredible story of his recent fundraising adventure.

James took on an extraordinary challenge — dribbling a football all the way from Marrakech to Rugeley — to raise money for St Giles Hospice.

His incredible journey has captured the hearts of people across the local community, and we were extremely proud to support him with a £500 donation towards his fundraising.

Club President Debra Coburn, together with Lions members Peter Fielding, Elaine, John Morgan, Pauline Holmes and Jane Stevenson, joined James for a special celebration at our meeting.

James has now raised an amazing £90,000 for St Giles Hospice, and his fundraising appeal is still open.

The challenge was inspired by the loss of James’ father, David, who was cared for by St Giles Hospice. The hospice provides vital care and support to patients and their families, making James’ fundraising journey particularly meaningful.

We were also delighted to hear that James has been nominated as a Midlands nominee for the Pride of Britain Awards. We wish him every success and hope he makes it through to the next stage!

James’ determination, commitment and incredible achievement are truly inspirational, and Rugeley & District Lions Club were proud to play a small part in supporting his fundraising.
