Rugeley & District Lions Raise £341 for Macmillan

Baking with kindness, fundraising with heart!

Rugeley & District Lions Club were delighted to raise £341 for Macmillan Cancer Support at our Coffee and Cake event held at the beautifully refurbished Rugeley Rose Theatre.

The event brought together Lions, members of the local community and visitors who came along to enjoy delicious homemade cakes, refreshments and a very popular tombola.

We were especially delighted to receive a surprise visit from Mrs Liz Barnes, Lord-Lieutenant of Staffordshire, who joined our Club President Debra Coburn for coffee and some of Jane’s delicious homemade cake.

The event was particularly special for Lion Jane Stevenson, who baked the wonderful selection of cakes. Jane is celebrating an incredible 10 years of organising Macmillan Coffee Mornings, combining her love of baking with her passion for fundraising and helping others.

We were also pleased to have the support of Rugeley Town Council, whose members joined us during the event.

Our tombola proved a big hit, with lots of fantastic prizes kindly donated by Tesco and local stores, collected by Elaine during her rounds. Tesco also generously donated tea, coffee and small cakes for the event.

Lions Debra, Elaine, Jane, Mandy and Pauline were on duty throughout the day, helping to welcome visitors and keep the refreshments and fundraising activities running smoothly.

Club President Debra Coburn said:

“This was a lovely event at the refurbished Rose Theatre to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. Thank you to everyone who visited and supported us.”

A huge thank you goes to everyone who came along, donated, baked, provided prizes or helped behind the scenes. Your support helped us raise a fantastic £341 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

And a special congratulations to Jane on 10 wonderful years of Macmillan Coffee Mornings!
