St George’s Day Concert 2025

St. George’s Day Concert 2025
Rugeley & District Lions Club had a very successful St. George’s Day Concert at St. Augustine’s Church, Rugeley starring entertainers Rich Parsons and Becca Gee. The event was opened by Town Crier Adrian Basford.
This was our second St. George’s Day Concert. We held our first St. George’s Day Concert last year when Club President Debra Coburn wanted the group to hold a concert in celebration of St. George’s Day for the people of Rugeley and if possible make it an annual event. Prior to this we had held two concerts celebrating the Platinum Jubilee and the Coronation so knew we could do this. Using local singers to perform popular sing-a-long songs and dance tunes and then end with a mini proms section proved to be a winning formula. The stunning setting of St. Augustine’s Church was just perfect for our concert venue.
This year we had Lion Peter Fielding as St George and Lion Elaine Morgan as a naughty green dragon. Town Crier Adrian Basford honoured us with his presence in opening the concert and supported us throughout making it even more enjoyable . Adrian always makes our events more special in his outstanding role as Town Crier.
As for our singers, Becca Gee and Rich Parsons, gave a superb performance and had the audience dancing , singing and flag waving. There was a definite feel good atmosphere in the church ending with the finale of sing a long and songs from the proms .
Lions Debra , Elaine , Peter , Pauline and John all worked tirelessly to make the event run smoothly. We also had great help from Dawn and Darren from St Augustine’s church . We feel proud that the audience had such a good time and hope to do it all again next year.
