Rugeley Lions Spread Easter Joy with Community Hampers
Members of Rugeley & District Lions Club have been spreading Easter cheer throughout the community by delivering specially prepared Easter dinner hampers to local families and support organisations.
Hampers were distributed to The Church of the Good Shepherd, Vysions and Rugeley Food Bank, helping 67 families in need to enjoy a traditional Easter meal.
Each hamper included ingredients for a roast chicken dinner with all the trimmings, such as chicken, frozen roast potatoes, tinned vegetables, stuffing and gravy granules, along with a dessert option including tinned fruit or small cakes. Designed for practicality and ease of distribution, the hampers combined frozen and ambient items and were valued at approximately £10 each.
Thanks to the success of the club’s Easter Egg Appeal, every hamper also included Easter eggs, adding an extra touch of celebration for families. The Lions extend their sincere thanks to Tesco and to members of the public whose generous donations helped make the initiative possible.
Club President Debra Coburn personally presented hampers to local representatives, including Sue Merriman of Vysions, for immediate distribution to families. Additional hampers were handed to Kate Waterworth of The Church of the Good Shepherd for residents in their care.
The final hampers were delivered to Rugeley Food Bank at the end of March, marking the culmination of the club’s Easter activities.
A club spokesperson said:
“We may be a small community group, but we are proud to make Easter brighter for local families. Seeing the smiles these hampers bring makes it all worthwhile.”
