Queen Elizabeth 1st at St Mary’s Church Colton

Rugeley & District Lions Club recently hosted a memorable evening of history at the beautiful medieval St Mary’s Church in Colton, where guests were treated to a captivating performance by historian and performer Lesley Smith portraying Queen Elizabeth I.

The church was filled with an appreciative audience as Lesley brought the Tudor monarch vividly to life, appearing in full authentic costume and delivering one of her renowned performances. Her engaging storytelling and deep knowledge of the period made for an entertaining and educational evening.

Lions on duty for the event included Club President Debra, along with Elaine, Peter, Pauline and John. They were ably assisted by Reverend Lyn and her husband John, who helped ensure the evening ran smoothly.

The club would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the event. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and the Lions hope the audience enjoyed it as much as they did.
