RUGELEY AND DISTRICT LIONS CLUB TOY APPEAL LAUNCH AT SANTA’S GROTTO.
The Brewery Street Centre once again did us proud by welcoming the Rugeley & District Lions Club into Santa’s Grotto for the launch of our annual Toy Appeal.
Dressed in distinctive velvet elf outfits and accompanied by our ever-popular Christmas Lion, we brought festive cheer to the town. Children were delighted to meet the Lion, receive chocolate coins, and take home colourful Christmas activity sheets.
This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the Toy Appeal, first introduced by Club President Debra Coburn. From its beginnings, the appeal has gone from strength to strength, ensuring that local children—who might otherwise receive nothing at Christmas—are gifted with something special. All toys donated must be new and unwrapped and are distributed to schools, charities, community groups, women’s refuges, and social services.
On duty at the grotto were Lions Debra, Elaine, John, Jon and Peter, joined by Mandy (friend of the club), photographer Deer Rugeley and our enthusiastic Town Crier, Adrian Basford. Together, they helped spread the message of kindness and giving, reminding us all of the true spirit of Christmas.
