Rugeley Lions Part of Something Truly Special
Members of Rugeley & District Lions Club have been celebrating their involvement in a unique and inspiring community project.
Club President Debra Coburn and Lion Jane recently visited Lichfield Cathedral for the first viewing of the beautiful Common Threads Table Runner, created in collaboration with The Fabric Vault.
The runner brings together contributions from stitchers, schools, charities and local businesses, forming a vibrant celebration of community spirit. Thanks to Jane’s suggestion, the Rugeley & District Lions Club banner has been included in this one-of-a-kind piece, making it a particularly proud moment for the club.
Adding to the significance of the display, the runner was presented on the remarkable Fenland Black Oak Table, crafted from 5,000-year-old oak, providing a truly unique and historic setting.
The table will remain at Lichfield Cathedral until May 2026. While the Common Threads Table Runner was initially displayed for one day only on 26 March, it is set to return as part of a special exhibition in June.
This project represents a wonderful opportunity for Rugeley Lions to be showcased alongside many inspiring groups, highlighting the power of creativity and collaboration within the community.
