Staffordshire Day 2026 – A Successful Celebration in Rugeley

Rugeley & District Lions Club was proud to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Staffordshire Day with a well-attended free history talk held at the Rugeley Rose Theatre. The event not only brought the community together but also helped support our town’s valued local theatre.

We are extremely grateful to Steve Booth, who kindly stepped in at very short notice to deliver an engaging and informative talk on William Palmer, Rugeley’s infamous “Palmer the Poisoner.” His presentation was both fascinating and well received by all those in attendance.

The talk had originally been scheduled to be delivered by Jonathan Oates of Jono’s Tourism, who was unfortunately unable to attend due to illness. We send Jonathan our very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery and hope to welcome him to Rugeley for a future event.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and supported the event. Your continued encouragement enables us to organise community activities such as this and celebrate the rich history of our local area.

Rugeley & District Lions Club looks forward to hosting more events in the future and continuing to serve our community. 🦁
